  It’s no longer news that the   National President  of the Academic Staff Union of Universities ( ASUU ) is  mobilizing  its members in  preparation  for a Possible Indefinite strike. Earlier, the  Academic  Staff Union of  Universities  (ASUU) postponed its decision on strike, saying that  consultations are still ongoing . This was contained in a press statement issued by the union after its  National Executive Council  meeting. However,  ASUU  has announced  14th February 2022  as the latest date to reveal the  union’s  Final Decision on the  planned  strike. This means that on the  14th February 2022  the Academic Staff Union of Universities ( ASUU ) will either declare or Postpone its Planned strike. Court orders FG to pay Igboho N20bn

 An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan,yesterday ordered the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Department of State Services to pay the sum of N20billion to Chief Sunday Adeyemo also known as Igboho as damages for the invasion of his residence. Justice Ladiran Akintola delivering his ruling, condemned the manner in which Igboho’s residence was invaded stating that since there was no war, the method of invasion was crude and unprofessional. He added that since the DSS had no search warrant, it was hard to believe that the arms and ammunition that were said to have been recovered were truly from Igboho’s house adding that there was no prove that Igboho exchanged fire with the DSS. Akintola stated that the manner of invasion and shooting was not only traumatic to Igboho but also to the people living in his house and the entire street. ASUU threatens fresh strike, gives FG Tuesday ultimatum

    THE Academic Staff Union of Universities has expressed its readiness to embark on another round of industrial action following what it called the failure of the Federal Government to implement an agreement signed with the union. The union is giving the government till month end (Tuesday) to reach out or it will activate the procedure of embarking on strike. The union’s President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, who disclosed this in an interview with The PUNCH on Sunday, added that the FG no longer picked its calls. Recall that in March 2020, ASUU embarked on a strike following its disagreement with the FG over the funding of the universities and the ineffectiveness and discrepancies around the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System and others. UNN Set To Introduce Aviation Degree Program As They Partner With Irish Aviation Company

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Igbinedion University, Okada in Edo State have partnered with an Irish aviation training company, Newcastle Aerodrome, to commence degree programme in Aviation Studies. At the event, both institutions agreed to bridge the gap in manpower in aviation by training professionals. The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, represented by one of his aides, Adewale Adelaide, said, “The government will support anything that would improve knowledge and expand our technical expertise in every area. That is the reason government is looking for partnerships with the private sector.” The Vice-Chancellor of UNN, Prof. Charles Igwe, who was at the occasion, described the partnership as the best thing that had happened to him in his capacity as the VC.
